What is Social Citizens?
An initiative of the Case Foundation, Social Citizens exists to increase the effectiveness of fearless next generation change makers, to inspire the inactive, and to influence the institutions (be it nonprofit, business or government) where Social Citizens live, work and play.
At the end of the day, by increasing their effectiveness, inspiring new action and influencing their institutions we aim to strengthen our collective potential to innovate and create change–and, we think that’s a good thing!
We see bold young leaders rising from the next generation who are adopting new technology, fostering transparency, developing new tools, new approaches, and the unique characteristics of their generation—collaboration, openness, transparency, cross-sector mindsets, and passion to do good—to create change in exciting and fresh ways.
We strive to ignite meaningful conversations, both by and for the next generation, spotlighting the successes, challenges, failures, and opportunities it faces.
We believe Social Citizens have the ability and power to quicken the pace of change, jumpstart a new wave of changemakers, and deepen their impact and effectiveness across all sectors.
Our goal for this platform is to inspire, create, and cultivate a robust conversation and spark action where Social Citizens define themselves and demonstrate how they are fearlessly shifting the dynamics of social change... for good!
How Social Citizens Began
In early 2008, inspired by evidence of a new, youth-led, technology-driven approach to change, the Case Foundation embarked on a research initiative to explore how the next generation, and Millennials in particular, were changing the nature of social change. The outcome of this project was the realization that there exists a very large and diverse group driving an even bigger trend that impacts us all.

About the Case Foundation
The Case Foundation, created by Steve and Jean Case in 1997, invests in people and ideas that can change the world, with the ultimate goal of making giving back a part of everyday life.
