Blogging for a Job: Meet Kynam Doan

Many of you write and ask, "who are these social citizens you're always talking about?"

Well, let me introduce you to KyNam Doan - he hails from San Francisco, graduated from MIT last year, and just launched a blog that will chronicle his efforts to find a job in marketing in the Bay Area.  But, let's just say this isn't your average job search.

Kynam set a personal philanthropic goal of volunteering 440 hours over the next two years and, at the same time, find employment. So, here's the deal, for every job interview he get's, Kynam has pledged to donate five hours of his time to a nonprofit organization and will be donating an additional minute of his time for every unique visitor who comes to his website.

The effort is already paying off for Kynam — and for San Francisco nonprofit groups. According to his blog he has already received five job interviews, which means that he will donate 25 volunteer hours to those groups and another five hours to the San Francisco Food Bank.

It looks like Kynam has also had about 654 visitors to his site, which means he is on the hook for more than 10 hours of additional volunteer time.

We look forward to watching Kynam on his quest - and marvel at his creative use of social media to find a job and give back!
