Is Defriending THE Trend of 2009?

So, you spent all of last year madly friending people on Facebook and Twitter. Will you spend 2009 defriending them?

Burger King has taken the defriending frenzy to a new high (or low depending on your taste!). Post their Application "Whopper Sacrifice" on your Facebook page, defriend ten people, and you get a free Whopper.  My gut says that we're getting mighty close to the marathon dance contests of the Great Depression here, but maybe my gut is just missing a flame broiled burger right now!
