Live from ServiceNation! 9/11/2008

What's a national service event without a little SC POV? No fears, I haven't forgotten about you -- it's just that I've only been in the city for three hours, and it's a whirlwind (literally and figuratively -- oh, those NYC cabs.)
Here's what's happened so far:
- I heard Obama was spotted on 56th -- not through being in the city, but through a Case colleague in DC emailing me that her friend Abby in NYC told her. Ah, digital fluency.
- I took the fastest elevator ride of my life. 35 floors in 26 seconds.
- Ben, Kari, and Michael ate some New York big slice pizza.
- I picked up my very first press pass!
- I found a seat next to Allison who, btw, got to meet Usher. (He's one of the co-chairs for ServiceNation, and is listed on the program on Usher Raymond IV.)
- I met Britt Bravo of Have Fun * Do Good fame!
- With camera around my neck and recorder in hand, I hit the campus for a round of terrific student interviews which you will all get to hear soon. Tons of views and opinions and ideas -- from engineers to Hindu students to Democrats to artists to Republicans to community organizers.
- I met CK of Ck's Blog fame! (She's sitting right next to me in fact.)
- I had way too much fun with the camera and took lots of pictures because it was the magic hour.
- I learned they are giving free boxed lunches to the reporters. I guess this is to compensate for the low pay ;)
- And best of all, I'm realizing just how much access blogging gives you to people, issues, events, and history in the making!
The candidates' forum is starting in an hour or so -- I'm going to take a break and will return.
(Also, if any of the Case tech team chimes in tomorrow, can you give me a quick lesson in getting my pics on here??)
