Mobilizing Generation 2.0

I recently moved to San Francisco after seven wonderful years living and working in our nation’s capital. I’m not gonna lie, it’s been a bit of a culture shock — but I’m loving the Bay Area — especially all of the new and interesting people I’ve run into. One of the first such people was Ben Rigby.

Throughout the past few years, Ben has completely immersed himself in finding the cross section between mobile technology, Web 2.0, and the impact that all of this new social media has on youth civic engagement, with an emphasis on voting. We’re lucky that Ben has decided to share all of the knowledge he has accumulated throughout the years in a new book called Mobilizing Generation 2.0: A Practical Guide to Using Web2.0 Technologies to Recruit, Organize and Engage Youth.

This is truly one of the most practical and useful guides for anyone who is in the nonprofit sector and looking for a tutorial on how to make sense of leveraging Web 2.0 technology — and connecting with young people. He writes in terms that are easy to follow, and mixes it up with invaluable guidance from a number of recognized experts. I encourage you to check out the book — and check out Ben’s blog Mobilizing Youth, filled with up-to-date resources, tips, and more.
