Social Citizens, New and Improved

Welcome to the new Social Citizens website!

It’s a big day for all of us self-proclaimed Social Citizens. Together, we have traveled a long road... one that has taken us through four years, 210 blog posts and 1,987 tweets—and produced countless connections with readers like you. Those conversations and collaborations focusing on the power of young, next generation change makers have helped us at the Case Foundation to evolve our mission and ultimately inform the development of the new SocialCitizens.org.

Through the new website we seek to provide a better snapshot of who Social Citizens are--bold leaders rising from the next generation who are adopting new technology, fostering transparency, developing new tools, new approaches, and the unique characteristics of their generation—collaboration, openness, transparency, cross-sector mindsets, and passion to do good—to create change in exciting and fresh ways and shifting the dynamics of social change.

We hope that in this new incarnation, Social Citizens will increase the effectiveness of young change makers, inspire the inactive and influence the organizations that engage with Social Citizens… which ultimately helps us all to maximize our potential to create change.

During your exploration of the new site, you will see fresh design elements inspired by the new Social Citizens logo; custom features specially created to foster engagement and conversation; easy-to-use navigation of our blog posts; a spotlight on our extraordinary Social Citizens Ambassadors; and much more. The new website goes well beyond the original blog and will continue to evolve with your feedback and comments. We hope Social Citizens overall will inspire, create and cultivate engagement for you and the greater Social Citizens community.

Lastly, we want to give thanks and credit to those who have helped us (even if they didn’t realize it) with the site you see here. Throughout the creative process we found ourselves inspired time and time again by others who were dreaming big, experimenting with online engagement and not afraid to fail forward with their web design. A few of our favorite sites to visit for inspiration while building SocialCitizens.org include: One.org; Google’s Think Quarterly; Development Seed; Four Kitchens; and Food Sense – just to name a few.

So what are you waiting for? Jump right in and explore the content, test out the new conversation elements using the #SocialCitizens in your tweets, and most importantly, share your own thoughts and ideas with us and others. It’s a great time to be a Social Citizen!
